It’s not a one size fits all!

One of the advantages we have as an independent consultancy is the chance to go into businesses and help them develop bespoke frameworks for defining, assessing and developing their leadership potential.

Our experience of designing assessment criteria and methods that best suit a company’s objectives and culture mean there really isn’t a one size that fits all when it comes to successfully assessing leadership potential.

Being evidence-informed also means the clients we support have confidence that the co-creation of a leadership assessment programme has psychological rigour, meaning it’s not only likely to be more successful in identifying leadership talent, but also contributes to a greater level of return on investment for them.

One client we recently supported was keen to incorporate Hogan as their preferred psychometric tool for assessing leadership behaviours. We have a lot of experience of administering, interpreting and providing feedback on Hogan so this was something we were confidently able to deliver – on scale.

One of the additional outcomes the client had for the programme was to become clearer on whether certain individuals had the qualities needed for them to succeed and demonstrate high performance. We recommended they use the JDI model of potential alongside the Hogan tool to expand their opportunity for gaining broader insights.

We wanted to further help them validate whether the insights gained from the Hogan tool and JDI model were truly reflective of an individual’s performance in the workplace and so we proposed a 360-feedback process that would provide an opportunity for colleagues and peers to share their observations.

The structure and style of the findings report following each stage of the assessment was co-designed with the client to ensure it reflected the language and branding of the organisation whilst also being user-friendly for the person taking part in the assessment.

Another client we partnered with was keen to use the JDI model and we complimented this by incorporating Korn Ferry’s learning agility model as well as integrating the organisations own values and leadership standards. So, a truly bespoke leadership assessment solution!

So when it comes to leadership assessment the possibilities are endless and it really doesn’t have to be a one size fits all…..
